Preview: Three things that are inevitable: Death, Taxes, and the Diamondbacks playing in the FMBA finals. After sleeping through a 14-8 regular season (good enough for a 2nd seed), the boys turned on playoff mode and set the difficulty level to “easy” in first round sweeps of the Wolfpack & Giants. They put up a +30 run differential in 4 games which included two 10 run mercies. 😮 The “Strive for Five” ‘ships in a row is certainly on the menu.
It will be a new opponent for them in this year’s final in the Dinos. Frankly no one else in the FMBA has touched the DBacks this decade, so let’s see what the new kids on the block can do. After leading the league in runs scored, the Dinos bats stayed hot when it mattered in knocking off the Canadians & White Sox, averaging 14.5 runs scored in two Game 3 blowout wins.Â
I think this is shaping up to be a great series. The primarily grizzled veteran DBacks against the young up-and-coming Dinos. These two squads both have a lot of depth, can both rake (were #1 & #2 in runs scored), and both have a couple solid starters. Plus it’s supposed to be 31C on Friday and Saturday. If you are around town this weekend, there should be some good baseball at Glen Hansen Field, with a decent chance of 3 games played.
