We did it, we made it to the end of the season. The season is so short in some ways, and yet I can’t even remember what happened even last month. Baseball life amirite?
The White Sox took the regular season title wrapping up the #1 seed as they finished July/August strong going 5-2. Both the Dukes and Dinos enter playoffs equally as hot with a same winning percentage (.714) over the last month of games, however no team enters playoffs hotter than the Guns who went 5-1 with 3 dimes, and 3 shutouts. The final playoff spot came down to the final scheduled game of the year between the Longhorns and Wolfpack. As it turned out, the Wolfpack won allowing the Wolfpack & Twins to advance to the playoffs on a 3-way tie breaker. Every game matters!
And now for your Studs of the Month. Our sponsors Papi Sunglasses, and Calgary Septic and Water are awesome. The biggest offensive and pitching “studs” will receive a pair of shades to show off. Special shoutout to Tim Wiebe who organizes all the prizes.

Jacob Carlson and the Dinos played a lot of games in July & August thanks to some earlier rainouts. But they took full advantage as Jacob helped the Dinos go 10-4 on the month. To be perfectly blunt, this month’s contest was not even close as Jacob basically doubled every other hitter in total bases (41) and runs scored (21). He also lead all hitters in hits (22), 3Bs (5), HR (2), & RBI (13). His biggest game was a July 25 victory over the Twins in which he went 3-3 with 2 3Bs, 2 R, 1RBI, to help the Dinos win 8-5.
Jett Ryan of the Guns has had a good rookie season so far, leading the Guns with a .500 season average. He ramped things up in July/August batting .600, tying for the league lead in HRs (2) and a league best OPS (1.933). His signature game was on July 26 in a 11-0 win over the Giants, as he went a 2-3 with a 2B, HR, 2R and 3RBI.
Like every month, there are several players I could spotlight here, but Cas Herold of the Giants stands out. On top of his catching duties in which he threw out 2 runners, he finished 2nd in the month in RBI (11) & 2Bs (3) while adding 1HR and 10 Rs. His big game was on July 11th vs the Twins where Cas went 3-4 with 2 1B, 1 2B, 4 RBI & 3Rs as he helped the Giants in a blowout 25-2 W.

The Dinos finished strong in July/August going 10-4. Three of those Ws were behind the arm of Ben Foreman as he went 3-0 allowing only 3 runs across 19IP, all three CG Ws. A 13:1 K:BB ratio was pretty excellent as well. Tough to choose a game that stood out as they were all top notch, but his July 18th 7IP 11K gem over the Giants in a 4-1 victory was definitely solid.
Speaking of solid, Dirk Dembroski of the White Sox was equally excellent in July/August. They say age is just a number, as veteran Dirk lead all pitchers with 24.1IP, and strikeouts (30), in going 3-0 for the first place Sox. His 8IP, 129 pitch, 8K CG W in extra innings on July 9th over the Longhorns was definitely a game to remember as the Sox won 4-3.
Circling back to the Dinos, their pitching was lights out the last month as Evan Gorr was very studly. He tossed 17.1IP, recording 29Ks across 3 starts. He bested the first place White Sox on July 23rd, going 5.2IP with 10 Ks in a 6-1 victory.
Congrats to all the July/August “Studs”. We will get the playoff preview out shortly, and look for postseason leaders and all star teams soon as well.
